AFRAS CAR-SAR Award for 2009

Nominations are currently being sought for the AFRAS CAR-SAR Award 2009. All nominations must be received by April 1st. Details on which organizations are eligible to nominate and/or receive the AFRAS CAR-SAR Award are below.

A.  Organizations eligible to be nominated and to receive the AFRAS CAR-SAR Award for the outstanding rescue operation conducted in the past year are:

i.  The volunteer SAR organizations established in the countries of the Caribbean Basin;
ii.  The government or official SAR organizations established in the countries of the Caribbean Basin;
 
B.  Organizations eligible to nominate a Caribbean Basin  volunteer or government/official SAR organization to be considered for the AFRAS CAR-SAR Award are:
i.  A government or official SAR organization in one of the Caribbean Basin countries;
ii. A volunteer SAR organization in one of the Caribbean Basin countries;
 
C.  Note that the US Coast Guard and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary are not eligible to receive the AFRAS CAR-SAR award, since they are already eligible for the Gold and Silver Medals that are presented to them by AFRAS each year for outstanding rescue operations. The USCG and the USCG Auxiliary are eligible to nominate a volunteer or a government or official SAR organization in the Caribbean Basin to be considered for the AFRAS CAR-SAR Award, however.
