The IMRF is pleased to announce that Associate Member HamiltonJet is once again sponsoring this year’s IMRF #WomenInSAR Award as part of the seventh annual award ceremony.

The IMRF Awards recognise the work of all those (volunteer and professional) involved in maritime  search and rescue (SAR) around the world, and the #WomenInSAR Award recognises an individual who has done a lot to inspire, encourage and support greater participation of women in the maritime SAR community. HamiltonJet, which sponsored the #WomenInSAR last year, is a global leader of waterjet propulsion technology and provides the most advanced and innovative marine propulsion systems in use in maritime SAR today.

More recently, it has been pioneering the development of vessel autonomy and skipper assistance solutions, empowering those at the helm to focus on the most critical elements of their jobs: saving lives at sea.

When asked why they were returning to sponsor this year’s IMRF #WomenInSAR Award, Antony Tomkins, Global Business Development Manager at HamiltonJet, said, “We feel it is very important to encourage and promote diversity within maritime SAR as this reflects our own values of diversity and inclusion. Most importantly, we wanted to help raise awareness of the opportunities for women and girls in the maritime SAR sector and to recognise the contribution of women to the global maritime SAR family.”

“We want to encourage more women to get involved in maritime SAR as historically the maritime world has been a male-dominated environment. This doesn’t reflect the demographics of those using the water,” he added.

“Our sponsorship of the IMRF’s 2022 #WomenInSAR Award is a reflection of our desire to improve equality of opportunity for all in the global maritime industry, as well as maritime SAR, by promoting positive role models within our industry.”

The winner of the IMRF’s #WomenInSAR Award will be announced on Wednesday 19th October at the first part of the European Regional Meeting. Click here to learn more about how to attend. https://www.international-maritime-rescue.org/news/save-the-date-for-the-imrf-2022-european-regional-meeting
