It’s that time again – time to recognise your colleagues for their exceptional actions and applaud their expertise and skills in conducting SAR rescue operations. But it’s also a time to shine a light on those colleagues who through their tireless support, training, and planning enable our SAR crews to go out and do what they do, safe in the knowledge that together we all form vital parts of the same team.

This year, there are five categories for nominations:

  • Individual: For Outstanding Individual Contribution to Maritime SAR Operations
  • Team: For Outstanding Team Contribution to Maritime SAR Operations
  • Innovation & Technology: For Innovation and Technology in the field of Maritime SAR
  • Lifetime Achievement: For Lifetime Achievement in the Maritime SAR Sector
  • #WomeninSAR Award: For inspiring, encouraging and supporting greater participation of women in maritime

“The last two years have been particularly challenging as the world has struggled to manage the global pandemic and the impact of global warming on severe weather events. Regardless of lockdowns, rising levels of infections, and social distancing, SAR responders – volunteer and professional – have continued to answer the call of those in need,” says Theresa Crossley, Chief Executive Officer, IMRF.

“Their commitment to saving lives has never wavered. They have adapted and transformed their procedures and developed new practices and standards, demonstrating exceptional dedication and remaining ready to help wherever they are needed,” she adds.

The IMRF Awards recognise volunteers and professional SAR personnel alike, from those developing innovative technology or equipment, to those involved in hands-on multi-agency rescues, to those who have dedicated their lives to building maritime SAR service in their region, or to those encouraging more women to enter  a traditionally male-dominated sector.

The closing date for nominations is 29 July 2022. The shortlist will be revealed on 19 September 2022 and the winners will be announced on 19 October 2022 at the first part of the IMRF’s annual European Regional Meeting.
