International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) Awards

Terms and Conditions

Nominations for the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) Awards will be accepted from individual SAR professionals or volunteers, and professional or volunteer SAR organisations recognised by the IMRF. Please indicate on the nomination form if your nomination is supported by an IMRF Member organisation.

Each nomination will be assessed by an experienced, international judging panel, all of whom have related search and rescue (SAR) industry expertise. Details of the judges can be found on the IMRF Awards page on our website.

All nominations are accepted on the understanding that the decisions of the judging panel are final. The IMRF will not enter into correspondence, or dialogue, regarding the decisions of the judges.
Posthumous nominations will not be accepted.

Nominations should relate to events/activities that have taken place in the period 1 July 2018 until 31 May 2019. Nominations for events/activities taking place outside of this period will not be accepted.

It is understood that nominations in the Innovation & Technology category will have had a development period. However, the first practical application of the software/hardware or improved practices must fall within the time period specified.

Nominations for the Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award should be for individuals who were still involved in some capacity in maritime SAR during the qualifying period (1 July 2018 – 31 May 2019).

Nominations must be submitted using the IMRF Awards - Nomination Form (paper or online version).

Videos submitted as part of the nomination:

1) The video can’t be any longer than four minutes.
2) The video should be uploaded to YouTube (, or Vimeo (, or similar video platforms. You can set the settings to 'unlisted', so only people with a link can watch your video.
3) The video should be entered as part of the nomination by copying and pasting the video URL into the URL text box on the nomination form. This is an optional part of the application.

All nominations should be made in English, using clear, concise and straightforward language. Please avoid using jargon, unexplained abbreviations or acronyms wherever possible.

Nominations that are incomplete, or where the video is over four minutes, may not be accepted.

The IMRF will accept up to three different nominations from the same organisation or individuals. In the case of the Innovation & Technology Award category, each nomination must be for a markedly different technological, administrative or logistical innovation.

A separate Nomination Form must be completed for each nomination, even if the nominations are for the same Award category.

Nominations for the 2019 IMRF Awards close at 23.59 hours (UTC) on 30 June 2019. (The actions of the nomination should have taken place between 1 July 2018 until 31 May 2019.)

The IMRF reserves the right to make awards at its own discretion.
