It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a former CEO of the IMRF’s predecessor organisation, the International Lifeboat Federation (ILF).

Commander Michael Woodroffe RD RNR died earlier this month, aged 80.

Mike, a Master Mariner, spent much of his working life as a senior member of the RNLI’s Operations Department.

Latterly, prior to his retirement, he took over the running of the ILF’s secretariat prior to it becoming the IMRF.

He had dealings with many members during this time and his considerable experience of SAR operations and safety management was much appreciated by members, particularly those who were developing new maritime SAR services, as well as those seeking to improve existing services around the world.

We send our sincere condolences to his family.
