An international advisory board and a user test group are ensuring the Maritime SAR Academy remains relevant, accurate, and easy to use.

The Maritime SAR Academy consists of:

  • Core IAMSAR e-learning: Course families aligned to Volumes I–III: system and governance, mission coordination, and mobile facilities - supported by scenarios, checklists and job aids.
  • Guidance-to-learning modules: Short, applied modules based on IMRF resources, including Mass Rescue Operations (MRO), HNS incidents, climate adaptation, pandemic response, flood response, trainer skills, mental health, and safety reporting.
  • Shipping track: Role-based content for commercial shipping.
  • Blended learning: Regular webinars, onboarding/train-the-trainer sessions, and links to live courses (e.g., MRO Subject-Matter Expert).
  • Inclusive, global access: Multilingual, mobile-friendly content, with low-bandwidth/offline options to support users everywhere.
